Training on the variable speed middle speed centrifuge (1)

Professional operations and maintenance is very important for centrifuge working at jobsite. Recently, we have one client bought one set GNLW452C-VFD variable speed centrifuge for a big horizontal directional drilling project, one 900m gas line pipe project from government. As this is the first time, they try to use centrifuge to treat the drilling mud in better performance, the clients arrange two engineers coming to GN Solids Control headquarter for the training course.

As this is single variable speed centrifuge (only main motor variable speed / bowl speed variable), it is much easier. The general training course including:

 

1) Explain the centrifuge each components and function.

The centrifuge including collection box, bowl, screw conveyor, main motor (only have one motor), variable speed control panel fixed on the centrifuge platform etc. Pls check the details from user manual.

This centrifuge is single motor centrifuge; the motor can drive the bowl rotating through belt pulley with belt. The maximum bowl speed can reach to1800RPM.

The screw conveyor can also rotate through gearbox input speed. Another end of gearbox is fixed by bolts, no rotating.

The differential speed calculation formula: N= (N1- N2) / 57

N1: means bowl speed

N2: means screw conveyor speed. In this centrifuge, it is 0.

57: means gearbox differential speed ratio.

 

2) The function of the rotation button. How to adjust the button to increase or decrease the bowl speed?

There are only one speed adjustable rotation black button on the control panel. It is used to change the main motor speed, thus further to change the bowl speed.

With above formula, you can know how to reach the proper bowl speed and proper differential speed.

 

3) Preparation of the test; how to connect the centrifuge, VFD control panel and feed pump?  

The clients need to connect the hoses and electrical cables when they receive the centrifuge cargo. One hose from dirty mud tank to centrifuge feed pump (pump feeding hose); one hose connected with centrifuge feed pump and centrifuge ( centrifuge feeding hose); one hose connected with centrifuge bypass and back to dirty mud tank ( bypass hose); one hose connected with centrifuge fluids outlet and back to clean mud tank ( discharge hose).
